The very beginning! I went through a "mysterious red glove" and "full flash" product photo phase during this time. I suppose I was trying to be mysterious. Sometimes I think it helped to show scale by including my hands but looking back I wish I'd taken a few without the hands for cleaner transparent images.I'd made crochet toys in the past, mostly based off of free patterns, but this batch was my very first endeavor into my own creations. These babies were created during a fairly dark period of my life - we just got priced out of our rental place and moved in with my partner's family friends. They were very sweet and generous to take us and our dog in but we lived in their basement for the winter before moving upstairs. During that winter I distracted myself from all the noise upstairs by pouring myself into making these guys. I released this batch on February 14th (my birthday) and a few were immediately spoken for but most sold at my inaugural market with The Lavender Club and found their forever homes!
I developed my distinctive random colour style at this point - I was just trying to reuse balls of yarn from a failed granny square blanket. I caked my own striped yarn, mostly at random, and I found that working with this kind of yarn gave me a great motivation to just "get to the next colour" so I could crochet a bit longer.
